Neandertal is a conceptual fragrance house founded in 2017 by London-based Japanese artist Kentaro Yamada, who collaborates with perfumers like Euan McCall and Chris Maurice to create experimental scents. The brand uses scent as a medium for philosophical exploration, asking existential questions about humanity's origins and future by drawing analogies between the prehistoric past of Neanderthals and our modern existence. Their highly original and non-traditional compositions, such as the Light and Dark duo, often feature a unique mineral/flint accord and are housed in distinct, handmade bottles modeled after ancient flint tools, bridging a million years of human design.
