The Lava Flow UL is an ultralight down jacket for serious cold. It's filled with 1,000-fill-power water-resistant goose down, about as much warmth as a jacket can get for its weight, inside a lightweight ripstop nylon shell with a water-repellent finish. The fit is in between, close enough to wear under a shell and roomy enough to go over a base layer. When the temperature climbs, it packs into its own pocket.
